I have a ~5000 word piece on Tao Lin (b. 1983) coming out in the Asian American Literary Review. I review his oeuvre but due to understandable cuts (original length ~6,500 words) the thing focuses now on mostly Richard Yates (2010), Shoplifting from American Apparel (2009), and Bed (2007).
You can read the lede here by clicking on ‘Samples from the issue’ and order a subscription here to get physical and digital copies of that issue and the one after.
I will be at USMC Boot Camp in Parris Island, SC for the next two months. So please direct all queries about the long thing here.
I felt pretty good while writing this, my third text post, but noticed small, heartbeat raising clips of apprehension re: use of 0-5 stock phrases in review. I would describe the tone of the long thing as at once ‘academic’ and ‘swole.’
